I have to admit “Dusk” put on by Gnap! Theater Projects at the Salvage Vanguard Theater was not what I expected. I hoped it would be a scripted “Twilight” parody reminiscent of “Scary Movie.” I did not expect it to be an improv. But in the show’s defense, I should’ve looked more closely at the poster that enticed me to go to this show in the first place which clearly stated “Improvised Tween Erotica” under its title. I obviously didn’t give the poster a very good look in general because I also did not notice that one of my friends from high school and college was on it (I think it’s the pout. I’ve never seen her do that.) and was shocked to see her in the show I bought tickets for a month ago because of the not-very-veiled name “Dusk” and hilarious catch phrase: “True love waits…forever.”

That being said the actors in the comedy troupe were all very talented improvers. From Michael Joplin who seemed obsessed with eating peas and “getting some” to Avimaan Syam who accidentally stood in the middle of the wrong scene only to save it with “Sorry. Wrong house,” before casually exiting the stage; this show certainly had its own charms unrelated to “Twilight.” It was also entertaining when they took audience suggestions for certain stage business; for instance, their decision to play Dungeons and Dragons the entire show?
