Have “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy”!

I sincerely hope theme parties aren’t something you outgrow. The cast of characters in the upcoming flick “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy,” which opens tomorrow at the Alamo Drafthouse Village, throw some of the most fun theme parties I’ve ever seen. How much fun does their white trash bash look?

Of course, it helps when you’ve got a huge house in the Hamptons, complete with a pool, as your backdrop, so once this group of 30-somethings is faced with losing their party house, they set out to throw the ultimate theme party – an orgy. The film, which stars “SNL” vet Jason Sudeikis alongside “Freaks and Geeks” alum Martin Starr and several cast members of Adult Swim’s “Children’s Hospital,” is the perfect kind of frothy, escapist fun and earns extra credit from me for having central female characters, something most R-rated comedies lack.

So, between watching this movie and rewatching “Gilmore Girls” (the Tarantino party, the London party, the 1920s safari party, etc.), I am chomping at the bit to host my own theme party. So what’s your most outlandish party theme idea? And for me, orgies are off the table. :)

  • We never did the Guy Fawkes Day party. All we need are the V for Vendetta masks!

  • I think Guy Fawkes Day is near my birthday, so maybe I should do that for my birthday!

  • So I tried to show my mom our website over the weekend and the title of this post was the first thing she saw. Oops.

  • Going with the theme of this post, don’t you think it should be a “Eyes Wide Shut” party?
