Skip Town: What should I do/see/eat in Portland?

This weekend, I’m headed off to (the hopefully milder weather of) Portland, Oregon, for a work/fun trip. I’ve never been to the city before, and after hearing for years that it is the Austin of the Northwest, I would love to hear any tips on what I should be sure to do, see and eat in the city to get the most of out of the trip.

Any suggestions?

  Julie just got back from there and loved it, she showed me some amazing pics of Multnomah Falls, although it’s outside Portland.

  I was just in Vancouver and while researching info for my trip I learned that Portland has an active board on chowhound. By all means check the site if you have time http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/64 For info specifically about food trucks see this post http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/741129#5994951 several people commented that it hits the nail on the head.

  Also the site foodcartsportland.com looks pretty good – you can search by location as well as cuisine.

  It was so great! Spent 10 days in BC, mostly in Vancouver plus a few days in Victoria. The weather was beautiful and Vancouver is a very liveable, international city…If this drought runs me out of Austin, Vancouver’s on my short list!
