Five Things We Love This Week
1) We have been consistently amazed by the smoldering dudes featured on My Daguerreotype Boyfriend. They’ve even got the passport photo of a young Ernest Hemingway (who according to “Midnight in Paris” is the original Ron Swanson). Check out this dead ringer (no pun intended) for Christian Bale:

2) Remember when The Fonz jumped the shark and lost a good chunk of his audience during the final seasons of “Happy Days” and thus spawned a catchphrase for shows that are no longer good? Well, this shark jumped a surfer in a video by Jacob Langston. Jacob had been filming some surfers and didn’t even know he caught the rare moment until he was editing the video.
3) Have you heard of the dog that wandered 11 miles into a grocery store, went straight to the pet food aisle, took a rawhide and then walked out? Her directness makes this little caper seem premeditated. She was even called one of the smartest criminals on “America’s Dumbest Criminals.” Watch this furry shoplifter below. Then watch the humorous follow-up story where she returns to apologize and then goes straight for the raw hides again.
4) We delighted in these sketches from illustration major Noelle Stevenson (also known by the alias Gingerhaze), reimagining “The Lord Of The Rings” in present day Hipsterville. Feast your eyes on Arwen, indignant trendsetter, the slightly less sinister bike-riding Nazgul and classy biker babe, Eowyn.
5) In our book, one of the best parts of summer movie seasons is always Pixar’s latest creation (well, not so much with “Cars 2″). We may have a year to go until the next one, but we simply can’t wait for “Brave.” For the first time, a Pixar flick has a female lead character, who will be voiced by the awesome Kelly Macdonald (“Trainspotting,” the original badass “State of Play” miniseries), and the adventure tale will be set in Scotland, home of gorgeous scenery and amazing accents.
