Five Things We Love This Week
1) Ever since we stumbled into the compelling drama of Louis Vs. Rick, in which a man teaches his cat to use IM, we haven’t been able to stop laughing. Catch up on all eight episodes, and then spend some time considering what your cat might like to chat with. Scary, right?
2) Once again Justin Timberlake proved why he is the best multi-hyphenate around with another host gig on “Saturday Night Live.” In celebration, the Yahoo! TV blog featured some of JT’s best guest star appearances on “SNL.” Although these wouldn’t all make our personal best list (where’s Omletteville?), the “Single Ladies” spoof is worth watching every single time. And after Saturday, this should be a new addition to the list:
3) We’ve loved seeing all the images this week of our awesome Commander-in-Chief doing awesome things while on a state visit to the UK and Ireland. Like downing a pint of Guinness. And playing ping pong against a team of students alongside British PM David Cameron. Just look at his game face!
4) Yes, some of us may have been band nerds in high school, which is probably one reason we’re totally obsessed with Jingle Punks, the small orchestra that covers modern pop tunes. Check out their version of The Black Keys’ “Tighten Up.”
5) We love good writing, but we love good stories even more. The Atlantic compiled the best of both in a list of the best nonfiction journalism from the past year. We were thrilled to see that quite a few pieces hailed from Texas (from Texas Monthly and the Texas Observer) and heartily recommend Zadie Smith’s commentary on The Social Network, this touching profile of Roger Ebert from Esquire and, from right here in our home state, this heartbreaking feature on sex trafficking. Just be warned that once you start reading some of these stories, you may surface hours later and wonder where your whole day went. Not that that happened to us or anything.

Louis Vs. Rick is hysterical! And the nonfiction story about the whale who killed the trainer, heartbreaking and incredibly well-written!

Oh no. Has TC taken over O’Husband’s email account? Did she learn from Louis?
Ha ha ha. And I thought O’Husband had just gotten a hold of some beer. But TC learning to use the keyboard makes more more sense.
