Five Things We Love This Week

Thursdays are rough. The weekend is so close but so far away. So to lift our work-weary spirits, we’re going to be listing five things we love each week, which could be an awesome cocktail, a TV show, a movie, a song, a book, a cupcake or anything that makes our hearts happy.

1) We love Jane Eyre, both as a book and in all its TV and movie incarnations, but right now we’re swooning over the latest big screen version (not to mention Michael Fassbender’s Mr. Rochester), which we caught a sneak preview of last week. Hopefully it will be playing everywhere in Austin soon.

2) The National are still out supporting their stellar 2010 album High Violet, but they managed to record a song for the soundtrack of Win Win, the newest film from writer/director Tom McCarthy (who previously made the beautiful movies The Station Agent and The Visitor). O’Husband caught the flick at SXSW, and this lovely song only makes us want to see it even more:

3) We’re loving everything Mumford & Sons lately, and we especially adore this song (it just makes us happy and want to belt it out, even at the office) and everything else on their album Sigh No More.

4) Here’s another fashion blog with a sweet DIY section: Honestly WTF. Check out one of the latest posts – how to make your own bolo tie. Now that’s awesome.

5) Finally, this is sweet if you are as obsessed with Apple as we hopelessly are: The PolyPly, which keeps all of your Apple gadgets and their myriad cords in one place. Read more here. Take a look below:

  • “Your gaze is very direct, Miss Eyre. Do you find me handsome?”

Uh – yes! I’m looking forward to watching this again – it was such a great adaptation.

  • Amen. I’m pretty sure he is the Irish-German Jon Hamm.

  • Hee hee hee. I found it really funny when she said no…
