A Christmas Affair

Move over, Mr. Turkey. For The Junior League of Austin, Thanksgiving is so over, and it is on to Christmas, or at least A Christmas Affair, the annual holiday market extravaganza.

After an exclusive gala opening Wednesday evening and some private reserved shopping time Thursday morning, A Christmas Affair will open to the public for four days of fun, food (care of Annies Cafe & Bar) and, of course, lots and lots of shopping. A $12 ticket gains you entry to the Palmer Events Center and to the gorgeous wares of more than 200 boutiques and vendors, including the craveable jewelry of Leighelena and the yummy treats of Austin Cake Ball.

Parking at the Palmer Events Center garage will cost you, but a free shuttle from Barton Creek Square is also available. The market runs noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

So why the cat photo? Well, for The Junior League, Christmas may mean pre-Thansgiving shopping, but in my household, the ringing of sleigh bells means just one thing – time to dress up the cat!
